Pens

Do we (they) say "the Pen is mightier than the sword?"

I do say the pen is mightier than the sword. While brute force may win out temporarily, the written word can last forever. Therefore, writings can impact future generations in a way that violence cannot. Violence can also effect future generations, of course, but I think writings have the potential to be farther reaching geographically and in terms of time.

They say the pen is mightier than the sword because the sword only cuts one person at a time for one event and words cut (or affect ) for ever or as long as those words are in print and able to be read. Also you can choose how to word something in reaction to your anger or disagreement as an after thought but the sword is wielded and used in the heat of the arguement or fight. The only thing words can't do is permanently shut someone up and a sword can end it one person at a time anyway ,forever.

I really wish I could make SNL Jeopardy comments...nonetheless, I think we (they) do say the pen is mightier. No justification.

Suggestions

Feel free to leave a comment or e-mail ideas of things you would like approved as what "they say". We will decide if we say that or not and then post it on this site.
